International Women's Day 2023

Today, 8th March, people all over the world will recognise International Women’s Day 2023, a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

At Seaway7 we have gathered interviews with colleagues from across our locations, sharing their inspiring stories and hopes for the future.

  • The renewables sector was totally new and exciting, a total change from other industries. I started as Project Support in the Oslo office in February 2022 and I’m now Document Controller and Interface co-ordinator on a project in the North Sea. International Women’s Day is important to highlight the strengths of women. We stand tall, talk with strong voices, and show we can do it. Click to read full interview...
Massiel Herrera - Document Controller and Interface Co-ordinator
  • “It’s important to recognise International Women’s Day to keep pushing progress on equality and equity in the workplace and women’s place in society. Change takes years, even decades, to implement. IWD gives us a yearly reminder on this important topic and a moment to take a step back to reflect on where are we now and ask ourselves ‘what have I done this year to create change, and how do we change it together?’ Click for the full interview...
Maria Eidesvik - Vice President, Europe and USA
  • The renewables sector is very attractive to young people coming into the workplace, so I do think that emphasising the difference our work can make to the planet, the room for developing new skills, and how interesting the work itself is, goes a long way towards encouraging women to make a career step into the sector. • Renewables is a good place for women of all ages and experience levels. There are a multitude of opportunities, and I’ve never felt that gender matters. I look around our offices in Aberdeen and I there are engineers, lawyers, document controllers, communications people, we are all just together, making a difference to the future of the planet! Marie-Louise O'Hara - Head of Legal
  • Equity in a workplace means everyone receives respectful and dignified treatment. When equity exists, people have equal access to opportunities, which is of the utmost importance. Whilst we do what we can to address the issues, it is so important to have an annual platform like IWD to highlight and celebrate women and raise awareness of the challenges we face and the solutions that are out there. • International Women’s Day is an opportunity for everyone to recognise that we can do more, to raise awareness and to challenge ourselves. At Seaway7, we are a diverse team – we work hard to be inclusive, equitable and to give people the freedom to develop and support to grow. Click to read the full interview...
    Christophe Brégeon - HSEQ Director
  • In my opinion International Women's Day is a great opportunity to highlight how everyone could benefit from a diverse workplace. There is a vast amount of research proving that mixed-gender teams produce more novel and impactful scientific research than single-gender teams so in my opinion it’s worth mentioning during IWD that it’s not only about appreciating women but also how everyone could benefit from it.
